TOMS: Looking Good for a Good Cause

Comfortable, fun, playful and classically original are a few ways to describe the TOMS Shoes movement (Personally, I think TOMS are super cute). Similar to its shoes, TOMS use of social media can be expressed with comparable characteristics by promoting involvement from its fans to share, screen, host, upload and register their pictures and stories to all the important social media sites (facebook, twitter and youtube).

Like Blake Mycoskie, I also have a soft spot in my heart for children, and he does so through the "”One for one movement,” which “is about people making everyday choices that improve the lives of children.” "
Many young people are searching for their own identity, myself included, and through its blog TOMS is creating a outlet of expression for its employees/ interns, consumers and its fans, who in turn “are amplifying the message of conscious consumerism, helping children in need, and being heard through their choices.”

In the most recent post on the TOMS Blog the ‘Admin’ re-posted the story of a TOMS customer and also writes, “Thanks for supporting the One for One, Katie! Hope you guys have a great semester!”
This not only demonstrates excellent customer service but it is also good public relations. I know I have written blogs, emailed, tagged and twittered about certain companies and NEVER got any feedback from them… But to have the company personally and publicly thank a customer (especially a college student, like me) for purchasing their product reveals that the relationship between TOMS and its consumers is mutually beneficial.

I would definitely add this blog to my favorites list. There is more to it than products, promotion and placement, for TOMS it is about customers, events, customizing your shoes and the lives of the interns (hilarious BTW!).
